Standard Bank: “Pigeon Jazz In The City”

This outdoor set was put together in Pigeon Square in Johannesburg where bird food was strategically scattered all over the musical equipments so that the birds would create music every time they pecked or walked on top of an instrument. The instruments were plugged into amps so it would be heard from all of Pigeon Square, but I am not too sure about the music in the end, but agency TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris definitely brought attention to Standard Bank’s 13h Annual Joy of Jazz Festival.

E-Graphics: Client
E-Graphics wanted a cost effective solution for their campaign to show what they are capable of as a leading global marketing and print production company. They did this simply by printing a die-cut, low tack decal that resembled a turned up corner of a page. This applied to various surfaces and is clearly labelled that it was printed by E-Graphics.
An overall cost-effective and simple yet strong campaign.

Food Bank Foundation: Garbage truck

This is a pretty interesting concept with a lack of budget for a campaign that turned out to be successful and getting some mass media coverage. This garbage truck collects garbage around the city and gives it to hungry families who are already feeding themselves with food from the garbage so that they do not have to scavenge. Makes you really think how fortunate we are to have fresh hot meals in our lives.

This week is the New York Auto Show and this billboard by TBWA Chiat Day is advertising the Nissan Leaf, an electric car. This is probably the best time to have this big billboard up and running in New York so all participants of this event can have a good look at what’s new and environmentally friendly. Other than having 2 simple and huge billboards, one of them with the exhaust pipe has actually smoke coming out to represent the 1000s of gas guzzling cars that will appear in the auto show. Creative, smart, different and simple.

Jameson: Fire

This spot by TBWA for Jameson Irish Whiskey is brilliant. The whole thing is just very entertaining. The story, the narrative, and the message is clear and fun. The acting, film making and special effects is very professional and realistic. No wonder there is such a long list of credits! (Haha) From what turns out to be a not so great idea of destroying the dam, flooding the city and probably drowning everyone, it turns out to be a wonderful idea because the not so brilliant idea saved the whiskey. And all of Ireland agreed. Catastrophe averted. Truly some impressive video production.

Young Director Award by CFP-E/Shots: Pool

born to create drama

This print advertisement created by TBWA is so funny. This ad is for the CFP-E which is a European federation for commercial film producers. The copy “Born to Create Drama” is so powerful and appropriate for what the message the ad is trying to deliver. The concept and the photography is nice, but I don’t know if the duotone of the white and blue is working for me. Makes it a lot less effective because this is advertising a group of film producers who are supposed to be very artistic, yet the colours are kind of bland. I think some more colour in the print would be a little bit more effective. However, the copy is very effective in itself.

Heineken: Social Networking since 1873

Heineken

I have always been interested in things that are simple and not complicated. If you want an audience, you have to keep it simple. That seems to be the kind of style that people look for nowadays especially with all types of visual mediums. In this print advertisement for Heineken, the advertising agency TBWA\NEBOKO of Amsterdamn, does a great job in utilizing simplicity. Simplicity is king when it comes to design. The Heineken logo is displayed with other social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, allowing the audience to create that connection that Heineken is used for social networking as well. Although users do not social network online with a Heineken, they create that association that like Facebook and Twitter that you social network online, in person, you can social network via a pint of Heineken as well!

This print ad is overall very simple, yet awesome and the message is quite clear that Heineken can be used for social networking.
